Topic: Main out B/T disengages on powering on/sample rate change/PH1/2 switch

I noticed a strange behavior in my ADI-2 Pro FS R (firmware version 265/117).

When I turn bass/treble on, it resets to off after standby, sample rate switch or toggling between main out and front PH1/2 out. The values themselves (gain, freq) are saved, it's just the B/T Enable setting that resets to "Off". And it does not matter which output is currently active, 1/2 or 3/4 − it always disengages B/T for 1/2 and not for 3/4.

After playing around a bit, I noticed that this behavior is observed when the "Load B/T with EQ preset" setting is on for output 1/2, even if the EQ itself is disabled. I think this behavior is wrong and counterintuitive.

I wonder if this is a bug that should be fixed. I have not noticed it before since I do not use the bass/treble adjustments so much, and came across this behavior accidentally when playing around with the B/T settings while using the dark volume screen at the same time, otherwise I probably would not have noticed this.

Maybe you cycle through very high sample rates during power on.
Watch the indication on the lower right corner of the display.


From the manual, page 16:

8.8 DSP Limitations
...
At sample rates 352.8 kHz and up the Bass, Treble and Loudness function is deactivated. The number of available EQ channels is reduced to 2 (1 x stereo). EQ can still be used with Analog Input, Main Output 1/2 or Phones Out 3/4, but only one of these.

At sample rates 705.6 kHz and up Crossfeed or EQ (1 x stereo) can be active, not both at the same time.

Yes, I am aware of the DSP limitations. The issue is not related to them since I use only 44.1 kHz. Besides, as I have pointed out, this behavior is there if the "Load B/T with EQ preset" setting is on for output 1/2, regardless of whether EQ is enabled or not for this output.
