Topic: driver and connection recommendation for UFX+ / M1 Max / Sonoma

hello, apologies if this has been covered over and over, but i think my question is a little bit more focused..

i just bought an m1 max MBP, running current version of sonoma, and i want to get my UFX+ up and running.

if i understand correctly, i will need to install the kext driver to make sure my firmware is up to date on the UFX+..

however, there remains the question of whether to use the kext or driverkit drivers for everyday use. i also can choose between USB and TB for the UFX

i use ableton for pretty much everything, i don't care about browser audio, i don't need to stream anything concurrently or run any aggregate devices.

i do occasionally work in multichannel audio (4, 6, 16+ channels), and do use ADAT and sometimes MADI.

i have one (notable) recommendation to use the TB connection + driverkit - however i thought the kext driver was supposed to offer more stability (for the interface) - just trying to get clarification.

any insight/anecdotal thinking is helpful, thanks.

Re: driver and connection recommendation for UFX+ / M1 Max / Sonoma

I'm using UFX+ with DriverKit on M1(Sonoma) with Logic, connected with Apple Thunderbolt adaptor without any issues.

UFX+, FireFace 802 FS, Digiface USB
12 Mic, M1610 pro, Micstasy
MacBookPro M1
Logic Pro X

thanks -  i will try this method first and hope that i don't need to revisit the process.

Re: driver and connection recommendation for UFX+ / M1 Max / Sonoma

im using the thunderbolt kernel extension driver on an M1 under Ventura and it works absolutely great and so far 100% reliable.
I didn’t try the driverkit one with thunderbolt.
Generally I can recommend the thunderbolt connection over USB 3, as I had some issues with that.
