Topic: BBF Standalone routes AN 3/4 to ADAT 3/4

It appears that the Babyface Pro FS (BBF) in standalone mode routes audio input on (unbalanced) AN 3/4 to ADAT 3/4 output.

I've found no reference to this is the documentation ... I just stumbled on it. I am mapping AN 1/2 to ADAT 1/2 using button sequences on the BBF. There is no way to control or monitor the level of the the AN 3/4 => ADAT 3/4 routing, but it does seem to work at full level.

This behavior is exactly what I need for my setup: a Push 3 Standalone and no PC, with the BBF providing Mic and stereo unbal input from my Keyboard player to the ADAT input of the Push 3S. So the question is:

Is this behavior documented anywhere and will it continue to operate like this in the future? (since I will come to depend on it ...)

Page 91 in the user manual regarding standalone-mode :

Of the eight ADAT channels only channels 1/2 can be controlled from the Babyface Pro.
You could mix the keyboarder to the mics and send all out on the analog XLR-outputs or ADAT 1/2

Yep, read page 91 about 147 times ...

However, although you can't control the AN 3/4 => ADAT 3/4 mapping from the BFP, or even monitor it, it does appear to be happening on my system, at 0dB volume. Whatever comes in on AN 3/4 goes out on ADAT 3/4.

What I have not done is try various configurations of other ports and mappings to see if any of them disturb the AN 3/4 => ADAT 3/4 routing.

I think you should note down the firmware version you have now, and if it is the current one also download it for safe keeping. The if a future firmware upgrade breaks it you can always go back. (I think that is unlikely, unless RME implements full routing options in stand alone, which I guess will not happen, but if it does it will also be good for your situation)
And thanks, I own one too and it is goed to know it can be used as a simple 4 channel AD adat converter.
