Topic: Feedback and no audio from software

So I had a setup for my podcast where my main mic was connected to a preamp which went into the Fireface UCX 2 via ADAT.
I've since moved that mic to the mic 1 (analog 1) input on the front of the Fireface.

Ever since then I'm having the following issues and neither my wife nor I could figure it out.

1. Main mic (mic 1) is feeding back in the DAW (Reaper). Does this have to do with the mic being on analog 1 while main out is analog 1/2?

2. Separate track for audio clips that I lay in in real time is not getting any audio now from the program (Farrago).

I'm not going to move the mic back to the ADAT connection so how do I make this setup work for my podcast?

Would greatly appreciate someone helping me out here.
Thanks

Re: Feedback and no audio from software

The main out analog 1/2 is connected to loudspeakers ?
And the mic is in the proximity of those speakers ?
You may use a headphone for the podcast instead of loudspeakers.
Also make sure not to send mic input signal directly to the main out in Totalmix.
In Reaper switch off input monitoring, the I-button next to the R-button.
The signal from Farrago appears in Totalmix in the Software playback channels 1/2, from there you have to route it to the desired output.

I do have speakers connected but they are potted down. They’re connected to the headphone amp (fed by fireface headphone).
How do I make sure the mic input signal isn’t feeding the main out?

Re: Feedback and no audio from software

In Totalmix click onto the main-out channel. It gets highlighted.
Pull down the fader of the mic input channel.
In Reaper switch off input monitoring on the track where the mic signal is.

Re: Feedback and no audio from software

I've got the feedback sorted out.
A couple questions though.
1. Am I able to monitor in Reaper with the mic in analog 1?
2. Not hearing the mic that's in analog 2 (babyface ucx 2).  There's level going into the DAW but I'm not hearing it at all until playback in DAW.

Re: Feedback and no audio from software

How do I set it so I can monitor in reaper without feedback?

Re: Feedback and no audio from software

In Totalmix route software playback channels 1/2 (where your signal from Reaper is) to the speakers only, no other channels sending to the speakers.

Re: Feedback and no audio from software

Yes if this is your speaker.
But this not how to route.
Click onto the hardware output channel Phones 1 (where your headphone is)
and pull down all faders of hardware input channels and software playback channels except the software playback channel Analog 1/2.
Then you are sure only the software playback 1/2 is routed to the headphone.
If feedback still persist then in Reaper is to block a signal.
