Topic: Software UCX/UCX II

I want to replace my UCX (first version) with a UCX II. Both devices use the same drivers.  ( Windows 10 )Does this mean that I can exchange them without a new installation, or is it wiser/necessary to first remove all the software from the old UCX and reinstall it for the UCX II please ?

Windows 10 -  Cubase Pro 13 -  Native instruments CE  14

If your latest installation is not to old, you can leave it, but it is recommended that you update to the newest version. Just download the newest driver from the RME and install. An uninstall is not necessary.
Also check for the latest UCXII Firmware , so you get all the latest functions, like RoomEQ and more.

As the UCX II has one additional AES port your current UCX config might not fit.
Be prepared to start from scratch.

I don't see where Dorrus vdv talked about DAWs. For drivers there is no start from scratch necessary.

Hi Matthias. Since he already has a UCX, I assume that he has already configured some things in TotalMix FX, i.e., probably created one or more snapshots for several routings / application scenarios.

Wasn't it always said that you can only continue to use them if the new device has the same port layout? This is not the case here, and I would like to point this out.

This has nothing to do with a DAW, I'm more concerned with the fact that you might have to redo the existing routings / TM FX snapshots from scratch because the UCX II doesn't have the same port layout (but one more AES port).

Hey Ramses, Your right, I have already configured some things in TotalMix FX and made some snapshots
Routings will be the same .
Thanks MC ! Didn't start from scratch, just swapped the old UCX for the new UCXII and updated to the latest software and all is working perfect! Happy with my new UCX II
