Use a partitioning program (free) to check if there is really no hidden partition and the whole disk is FAT32. Another possibiity is that the SSD draws too much peak current so communication is interrupted. Some USB3 to SATA adapters allow the use of an external power supply.

Unfortunately this simple process cannot be do it through Windows 11 until 24H2 without a 3rd party app , Microsoft do not allow creating FAT32 partitions higher than 32GB via Diskpart or Disk Management regardless OP got a 240GB SSD.

I'm also using a 60GB SSD SATA III with an USB 3.1 Gen2 external enclosure, no problem formatting at FAT32 without limits under Linux but cannot access to files/partition under Windows. DURec recognizes the partition/disk successfully, recording without problems in Standalone Mode and via TotalMix FX 1.96 Beta 7.
