Topic: RME Dante disappeared from Dante Network. No more Dante?

New user and running setup tests on this.  RME Dante setup went fine and test recordings yesterday were fine.  Booted system up today for all-day session. Have error log that shows RME Dante firing Warnings and info.  Then it was gone.  The odd thing...  The attached mixer (using direct Primary connection to RME) was still on Dante Control and reporting fine.

Dante Controller does not see RME Dante box...  but Windows does, and audio plays out headphone jack. Have done basic disconnect, reboots, reseat USB, check drivers (which still function fine).  The RME Dante does still seem to be clocking from the mixer (sample rate grey out). RME had disappeared from Nuendo but is available to Nuendo after reboot (and working with DAW).

But...  cannot get unit back into Dante Control. Thoughts?

Re: RME Dante disappeared from Dante Network. No more Dante?

FYI...   Windows 11 laptop.
Driver = 9843 and Firmware = 57
Dante Control = latest version

Connected via supplied USB cable and bus powered

Do you expect to use Dante Control without an extra network cable plugged from a computer port into the DF Dante? Then you need to install the specific net driver (as explained in the manual), which is currently v0.9831:

https://www.rme-audio.de/downloads/driv … _09596.zip

You can then update to the latest 0.9843 again, the net part will stay.

Another reason for disappearance issues is using bus power. Use the supplied power supply to make sure the DF Dante runs stable.

Did figure out the Net Driver from the manual and previous forum searching, and unit had been performing/working well.  The key for us might be using the supplied PSU, as we were just bus power.  It worked so well for many hours on just bus power...   but once it stopped working it wouldn't start again.  Will add the supplied PSU and see if Dante Controller finds the RME again.

This did not fix the problem. It has returned as before, even while using the supplied psu.

I added psu (reducing potential error from bus power). Rebooted.  At first Dante Controller did not see RME. After a few minutes it returned to view in Dante Controller, and was promoted to clock leader.  I let the system run over night.  On return this AM, the RME was not available in Dante Controller, but the mixer connected via RME Network Primary was still visible in Dante Controller.

Attempted power cycle and other USB port.  RME Dante works for Windows, and acts as an Ethernet router for Dante Controller, but DOES NOT appear in Dante Controller as a Tx/Rx device (no audio routing in Dante).

Another thing to check is the current firmware version of the Dante Brooklyn module within the DF Dante. But such a firmware update via Dante Controller might require the Controller to see the DF Dante.

Re: RME Dante disappeared from Dante Network. No more Dante?

After an overnight shutdown and cold boot...   RME Dante did appear on Dante Controller at startup, and kicked this error. Once clicked OK on error message, RME Dante again disappeared.  Might this error be part of my trouble?

Invalid Address configuration: A local non Dante interface has an ip address in the same subnet as Dante interface.

Re: RME Dante disappeared from Dante Network. No more Dante?

After several minutes, the RME Dante device has appeared in Dante Controller again.  All connections are there and now working.  When checking the Dante Brooklyn for updates on Dante Updater 2.6.2 ...   the RME is listed under CONSULT MANUFACTURER vs "Up-to-Date" or "Updates Available"

RME Dante Product Version = 1.0.3.0 with Dante version 4.2.5.3

Gone again.  Device no longer available via Dante Controller.

Re: RME Dante disappeared from Dante Network. No more Dante?

Removed and unplugged RME unit for a couple of hours....   Replugged units and Dante Controller instantly sees both RME and attached Mixer. All connections are subscribed.

RME Dante receives all channels from mixer.  Mixer subscription to receive two channels from RME Dante unit says "unresolved" ...  so system is apparently only connected one way...  Mixer into RME Date via 1-16 subscription.

A few hours later....  all channels have resolved and unit is working correctly, passing audio via Dante network, and seen by Dante Controller

A short while later....   RME Dante Tx channels have returned to "unresolved" in Dante Controller

I opened Dante Updater and the Controller dropped down to 1 device again and RME Dante is now missing from DC and audio routing is not connected.

Any ideas or thoughts regarding these instabilities and experiences?

Re: RME Dante disappeared from Dante Network. No more Dante?

Last note for the day...    We tried to change the RME Dante from "Redundancy" to Switched (which has to be done in Dante Controller).  After the RME unit was unpowered for a couple of hours, we did boot up and connect to DC software.  Changed the RME from Redundant to Switched.  Did not impact the problem.

Currently we suspect the Brooklyn Dante chip in the RME to be faulty...   something like static building up over time, unplug for hours and it discharges, works for a bit but then drops out within 1hr of use. Seems like a bad power component or etc could cause this.  Have another RME unit shipping in overnight for testing tomorrow. I hope (fingers crossed) that the new unit connects to Dante and holds steady.  Update more then.

Re: RME Dante disappeared from Dante Network. No more Dante?

Glad to say...   the new unit is behaving ROCK SOLID since arrival. Both devices appear on network faster and stay in Dante Controller (for hours now).  I'm going to let in run overnight as a final test.  But...   seems it was just a random hardware issue with the first unit we received. No other settings or drivers were changed. Second unit has been super stable!
