Topic: DURec Question--had some issues recently with recording dropping
Hi All
I suspect the issue here is my laptop but I will clarify first my setup.
RME Fireface UCX II
UBS3.0 SSD drive in a powered enclosure, formatted correctly to FAT 32. Connected by USB 3.0 Type A connector cable to DURec port of UCX II
Interfaces for running TotalMix: Laptop A (used successfully), Laptop B (just set up, spare laptop I have), and iPad Pro (maybe 2 years old--have correctly used it with UCX II in Class Compliant mode and a small USB hub, no issues at all).
I essentially want this as a standalone recording setup, but I like using TotalMix to start/stop recording and set levels etc. This was the only reason I have used my laptops. I later take the WAV files into my DAW on my desktop.
I successfully recorded a jam session with about 11 inputs about 2 weeks ago. I used "Laptop A" to run TotalMix. I cannot recall if the UCX II was in CC (Class Compliant mode) or not, but I did have the USB driver running.
Yesterday, I used a different laptop--a gaming laptop from a few years back, and had just installed latest UCX USB Driver.
I added a few tracks--12 inputs this time (one more than before).
I started the recording and it should just keep running . . . like it did last time. We're talking about 3-4 hours. However, it dropped out a few times and we didn't get the full session.
Any idea why this happened?
Should I just run this with iPad Pro and UCX II in CC mode?
Is it perhaps a drive issue?
Note: I have yet to update the UCX II firmware--was always in a rush before so I will try to do this today.
