Topic: Gains, levels, AutoSet 12Mic from computer with TotalMix?

Hi, I have 12Mic and UFX III. Is it not possible to see levels and set gains with TotalMix? It looks like I have to use TotalMix for UFX III and RME Connector for 12Mic? This is clunky....

My real preference would be to be able to set gains from within Reaper but I imagine this requires vertical integration like Pyramix?

Totalmix menu Options / Settings tab AuxDevices setup 12Mic aux device lets you control 12Mic from Totalmix

The new version Totalmix 1.97 B2 needs to be in use.

Alternatively using RME connector, but the integration into TotalMix FX is IMHO better,
because then you can save/recall most relevant settings (for operation) also in snapshots and workspaces.

Please note, you can only either use RME connector or Auxdevice via MIDI over MADI otherwise you get race conditions.
I didn't try yet whether Auxdevice via MIDI over MADI and RME connector over LAN would work in parallel, but either you use one or the other, makes no sense to use both for the same device.

Thanks, this works great from TotalMix. Do you think the beta is stable enough to use for in production?

Now, turns out my USB cable is only USB2, so that must be why I don't see any MADI channels in Reaper...

Yes and there can't happen much, if you quit TM FX what happens? Nothing bad.
The last configured routing is in place, then you restart TM FX and it works without interruption.

The UFX III is being delivered with a USB3 cable. Use that.

My Mac has only USB-C unfortunately, but I will look for USB-C equivalent. Also I'm traveling to a new place every 3 days so it's very hard to do orders! Maybe I can find similar cable in Paris or Amsterdam in an actual store? Do you think fancy connectors etc matter for USB?

Nothing fancy needed. Price does not need to exceed €25.

Max cable length for USB 3.2 Type C to Type B seems to be 2m.
