Topic: Loopback Problem - not re-routing possible?

I know that Loopback is supposed to not show any signal in the input row of Totalmix FX. But I thought it was still possible to reroute the back-looped audio from that input channel to other outputs. So far, I had only used Loopback to record audio playback in my DAW. But currently investigate Totalmix and my Madiface XT and its capabilities to do bass management for my 5.1 monitor setup. The plan was to route all channels except for the LFE to an additional (unused) output and set all of those channels on loopback. The corresponding input channels can now be EQed accordingly and and sent to the subwoofer. I did not want to send those channels to the subwoofer directly, because the LFE channels should not get any low-cut filter. I had hoped that I could somehow circumvent that by using loopback, but now I found I could not re-route those looped inputs to the sub. Am I doing something wrong or is this by design? Can Loopback-audio fact only be received in other apps, but never in Totalmix itself?

Yes, never in Totalmix self.
The Loopback does forward the signal onto the input bus into the DAW.
Not into the input of Totalmix, danger of feedback loop.
You have to work with a DAW, Reaper for example is for free and does an excellent job.

Re: Loopback Problem - not re-routing possible?

I would like to do the bass management for any audio not only the DAW. I had hoped that Totalmix can do it, but it seems even on the newer devices like the madiface XT II they added new features like the Room EQ, however, the bass management as I described is still not possible. You have to the the cutoff filter globally on the LFE channel. It is such an unfortunate omission, as these kinds of features could save you thousands of Euros by not having to buy one of the very expensive immersive monitor controllers available on the market.

Every hardware output in Totalmix has an EQ, you can save user presets and load that preset on every normal loudspeaker, use another EQ for the LFE output.
Unclear what you mean with bass management.
The interface has outputs, to the loudspeakers. You send music there with your settings and EQ. Thats the management.

What I want to do is route every channel (L, R, C, LS, ...) individually to the subwoofer and set its cutoff filter frequency as needed. I can do that on the outputs for the satellites. But I can only set one common cutoff frequency for the output channel of the subwoofer. That is not as intended for the LFE and for the satellite channels I have different requirements for the frequency (some of the the speakers in the 7.1.4 system I aim towards are smaller than others).
