Topic: Issue with Logic Pro 11.1.2 and Babyface Pro FS: PROBLEM!!!!

Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing a frustrating issue with my new RME Babyface Pro FS when using it with Logic Pro. Below is a summary of my setup and the problem:

Setup:

Audio Interface: RME Babyface Pro FS
Working DAWs: GarageBand, Reaper (no issues with these)
Problematic DAW: Logic Pro 11.1.2
Operating System: macOS Sequoia 15.2
Computer: MacBook Pro 15" (2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 6-core, 16 GB DDR4 2667 MHz RAM)
Microphones: 2 cardioid CM4 microphones connected to inputs 1 and 2 with Phantom Power enabled
RME drivers and firmware: Updated to the latest version via Fireface USB Settings
Issue:

Input Signal: The input signal in Logic appears good and has correct levels during monitoring. However, once recorded, the signal is extremely low, distorted, and noisy.
Errors: While recording, an error message appears related to sample rate and MIDI synchronization.
Clock and Sample Rate: Everything seems properly configured at 44.1 kHz in both Logic and the Babyface settings.
Other DAWs: The interface works perfectly with other DAWs like GarageBand and Reaper, with no distortion or low signal issues. It appears to be a problem specific to Logic Pro 11.1.2 and the Babyface.
Reinstallation: I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled both Logic and the RME drivers, but the issue persists.
Additional Attempts:

I’ve checked all audio settings in Logic, including buffer size and routing.
I’ve adjusted the clock settings on the interface and verified the MIDI sync settings, but no improvement.
Input levels and routing on TotalMix FX are perfect (peaking at -6 dB).
Question:
Has anyone experienced similar issues with Logic Pro 11.1.2 and the Babyface Pro FS? Are there any known solutions or specific configurations I should check to resolve the sample rate and MIDI sync issue?

Thank you very much for your help!

Both posts : please tell wich driver version number is installed ?

OP has postet this : RME drivers and firmware: Updated to the latest version via Fireface USB Settings.

Drivers and Firmware are not a one-package-update, it's two different things.

Do you mean the FUT ? This is only firmware update, you have to download the actual driver installer from the RME website.
The USB Settings is showing the installed version number, please provide.

You did record audio but in bad quality, noisy. May you provide a piece of audio .wav or mp3 of this ?

Re: Issue with Logic Pro 11.1.2 and Babyface Pro FS: PROBLEM!!!!

this is what I have downloaded for the Fireface UC :

macOS 11 and up USB Series Kernel Extension Driver
2024-10-17
driver_usb_mac_333.zip

and

fut_usb_mac.zip

firmware: v138     Driver: v3.33

there is no way to record input 1 and 2 on good quality on Logic
but on GarageBand it is fine

Re: Issue with Logic Pro 11.1.2 and Babyface Pro FS: PROBLEM!!!!

I use Logic and Reaper and Cubase, mostly Logic and the recordings are fine from every input.
I don't have the UC, using Babyface and MadifacePro.
Create new project in Logic and compare project settings to GarageBand project settings..

same project settings ... doesn't work - can you think about a Logic Expert that can think about a solution?

Re: Issue with Logic Pro 11.1.2 and Babyface Pro FS: PROBLEM!!!!

I would try the new driver 4.18
as the device has the latest firmware it is ready for new DK driver.

not solving the issue hmm wish I could have an anydesk conversation with a pro or some one ...

Re: Issue with Logic Pro 11.1.2 and Babyface Pro FS: PROBLEM!!!!

I'm really no Logic expert, but if I'm not mistaken, there is some kind of recording level control somewhere that could affect signal post input. Have you tried recording with other software like Reaper for a test?

Re: Issue with Logic Pro 11.1.2 and Babyface Pro FS: PROBLEM!!!!

I have tried GarageBand - no problem
Tried to record Directly from internal laptop mic - no problem.

maybe someone from RME can check the combination of : Logic latest version, FaceTime UC latest kernel update, M1 Max  Apple laptop and  and OS Sequoia latest and to check if input 1 and 2 are recording well?

In Totalmix make sure Loopback on output 1/2 is off or try with Loopback to see if it makes a difference.

Yes thats weird or odd wired

You can make good recordings with Garageband that proves the interface is not faulty.
There is a problem with Logic settings and I have an idea what could be.

you say your recording was low level and distorted and noisy.
This is the case when the recording happens thru the internal microphone and loudspeakers of the computer by mistake.
I can reproduce this with a setting.
Logic Settings / Audio / General :

Try with this ON
