There is a new firmware 1.69 for the Fireface 400, Mac and Win:

SPDIF output: Channel Status Consumer changed to IEC 60958-3 (DS/QS). QS output signal improved.

Finally the Fireface 400 and 800 driver catches up with the HDSP and UC drivers. Version 2.98 for Windows includes the latest TotalMix design and features, plus lots of fixes and improvements.

This driver is also directly compatible to Windows 7. BUT: it seems the new Microsoft FireWire driver included in 7 suffers from unexpected bad performance when used with audio. Performance is really bad, operation limited, behaviour unexpected - in short: lots of problems at this time. We are in contact with MS about these issues to fix them on either our or their side.

Therefore, for the time being, please continue to use 7's legacy FW driver as explained here:

And V 2.991 replaces V 2.99. Sorry for the trouble, but now it's really fixed!

Mac driver 2.64 for the Firefaces should fix the problem with standby and power on after boot in Snow Leopard.

Version 2.999 fixed a minor problem (red LED did not go off after Win64 sleep).

Version 2.9991 finally removes the MME support. MME had been implemented by a system-wide wrapper, fireface _mme.dll, that - simply said -  translated MME commands to WDM commands. MME is dead as it can be, no longer supported in 64 bit OS, and therefore no longer present in the Fireface UC. As preparation for the next 3.0 driver we now removed this one too.

Now the list of available devices is more clear and easier to overlook, and one can no longer select the wrong (MME) one for system sounds and multimedia.

We also had a note from Pace who saw problems with our dll when installing their products. Note that if you had an older driver installed before and want to get rid of it completely you have to manually delete the file fireface _mme.dll, as the new driver will (can) not remove the dll. It just makes it unavailable for the current driver, but it is still in the system.

Mac driver 2.65 might not be the problem solver for everyone, but works much better for many, so we decided to put it on the website officially. Note that we are still examining and working on this issue.

Mac driver 2.71 for SL solves the hang when the FFs are connected after the OS has booted or slept.

Mac driver 2.73 adds the Level meter text color option to TotalMix and fixes a display problem with WC at 176.4 kHz.

The re-written Windows 7 driver 3.016 has been released as well. When using this latest MS OS please do not use the former version 2.9992.

Windows driver 3.017 should fix the strange ASIO delay start problem seen with various DAW programs. It also allows to disable the TMS transmission, which seems to be incompatible with original Dolby Labs software.

Mac driver 2.75 makes the latest addition of free sample rates compatible to Logic. It can not be used with Logic, but at least Logic no longer gets irritated by the new option ;-)

Windows driver 3.028 brings no changes except for the UFX. If you use the FF 800 or 400 with the former driver 3.020 you can wait for the next driver update.

Windows driver 3.031 now brings changes for all our FireWire units:

- Bigger buffers for Double and Quad Speed in the Settings dialog
- Fixed possible hang when changing the sample rate
- Settings for the FF 400 headphone level had been reversed in the Settings dialog
- Latency can now be changed while more than one ASIO program is used (useful for a parallel operation of DIGICheck)

...and finally Mac FW driver 2.87 fixes wrong channel names of the UFX, just before the weekend ;-)

Mac driver 2.89 is now aware of more than one FireWire controller. Before, if you added another FW controller and use the RME units at that one instead of the internal one, it could have happened that Settings and TotalMix automatically close and were therefore unusable.

Mac FireWire driver 2.90 has been released. It includes the new TM FX 0.93 for the UFX (see the USB forum for changes), and an updated TotalMix for the FF 800 and 400. The changes in the 'old' TotalMix (with more upcoming) will also be added to all other products soon:

- Added options to switch off Mackie Protocol support and Level Meters

- Level Meter data added to Mackie protocol

- Unity Gain (SEL 1-8 + DYNAMICS)  did not work as intended

- Post Fader mode added (description follows)

- Direct submix selection via Control Change commands added (channel 1/2: BC 68/69 xx, channel 3/4: BC 6A/6B xx etc.)

New drivers have been released with lots of changes and improvements, Win 3.046, Mac 2.92. UFX users are updated to TotalMix FX 0.941. The biggest changes are in the Windows FW driver, which for example is now fully multiclient even on the same playback channel. See driver readme for more information.

...and version 3.01 brings TotalMix FX version 0.96. New Windows driver version is 3.062.

New Mac FireWire driver 3.06 with TM FX 0.963 is now available for download.

Windows (3.068) and Mac (3.09) FireWire driver have been updated with the latest TotalMix FX 0.983. The Mac driver also includes a fix for SysEx data being corrupted at the MIDI input.

Windows driver 3.069 now includes TotalMix FX 0.984 which fixes D2D scaling problems.

Latest FireWire drivers released on our website: Windows 3.070 and Mac 3.13 with the latest TotalMix FX 0.989.

Windows FireWire driver 3.071 includes improvements for Windows 8 and Fireface 800/400 users, where TotalMix was not storing its preferences. Also the Settings dialog's Lock Registry option has been fixed.

Windows FireWire driver 3.076 adds ASIO 2.3 MMCSS support and comes with its own installer. Please check here:
