Topic: Fireface UC sending unwanted MIDI messages in standalone mode

Hello,

just got the UC and I'm quite impressed for quality and flexibility of the product.

There's a strange annoying behaviour though in standalone mode (it happens ONLY in standalone mode):

When I use the FFUC disconnected from the DAW or with the DAW turned off, the red "HOST" led lights, and I think that's expected.

The problem is that in that situation, when tweaking the rotary encoder in "level" mode I see some MIDI messages are sent through MIDI Out 1, and that's not good in my setup because I have a synth keyboard receiving MIDI from out 1 (some events are note on, so the synth produces sound in response).

"Enable MIDI control" is disabled on TotalMix, and the MIDI output port for controller is set to "NONE" so I would expect the FFUC should never send MIDI events by itself.

Moreover, the MIDI events are not documented.

It looks as if the same messages are sent out just after turning on the FFUC in standalone mode.

Firmware version is 91, but the problem also happens in 82.

Driver version is 0.935.

This is the detail of sent messages:

Is there something I can do to prevent the FFUC from sending all these messages or is there something wrong with the card?

Thanks,

Re: Fireface UC sending unwanted MIDI messages in standalone mode

The MIDI messages of port one are probably part of the Mackie protocol.
Faders need to be updated when you change the output volume of the UC.
Since the ports of the UC can not be used for other purposes while in stand-alone mode, the Mackie emulation is always on.
MIDI port two should be silent though.

Ok, it's expected then; that means in short that in standalone mode there's no way to disable Mackie Protocol, right?

Can I assume that the protocol only uses MIDI channel 1?
