Topic: FF400 Blue Screen (BSOD) Win7 x64 using latest driver (2.998 fw 1.7)
With the exception of a few "buzzes" now and then, the previous drivers and firmware(s) were working pretty stably for me in Windows 7 64. I ran with the 2.992 driver and 1.6x firmware for the majority of that time. The only issues I had were on occasion a host app would give a constant buzzing through the FF, requiring the app to be killed through task manager.
With the latest firmware and driver 1.70/2.998, the random buzzings have gone away but a new problem has appeared. If I'm running one app that uses the FF (eg. Reaper DAW) and run another (eg. foobar2000 music player), when I hit "play" in foobar it will hang for 20 seconds before I see a BSOD. The BSOD is usually 0x01 (ACP_INDEX_MODE), although on occasion I've had the more "friendly" BSOD saying something like "Device driver conflict", "The issue is most likely related to device drivers..." etc..
The BSOD issues as described above have appeared since using the latest driver and firmware. That said, one app at a time, it works fine. I just need to be careful to avoid apps trying to use the fireface concurrently (including Windows sounds!).
I am using a Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6 mobo with onboard TI firewire chip, which has for 2 years worked perfectly with the FF400 under XP, whatever I throw at it.
I am hoping for a fix to some of these issues in the near future, as my Fireface is quite unstable at the moment.
