Topic: DAW outputs unexpectedly mute with MIDI input

Hey all.

Very happy owner of a Fireface 800 here, flawless operation so far, and the quality of the AD/DA is stunning.

I'm using an Alesis ION through the MIDI input/output, and every now and then, one of the DAW outputs unexpectedly mutes even though MIDI control isn't active. Even stranger, this doesn't show in TotalMix, and the only way I can fix it is to power the Fireface off and back on.

Here's a screenshot to show this issue:

You can see that there's audio coming from DAW 1 and 2, but only hardware output 1 is working.

DAW output 1 can pan across to the other output, and it works fine. I can route the audio in OS X to DAW 3 or 4, and route that to hardware output 2 fine. It's just DAW out 2 which doesn't work.

Is really the submix fonction on to see it ?

Sorry, I don't quite understand your post.

What you see above is what Total Mix looks like when the glitch occurs. You can see that the right-channel of submix 1 is not producing any audio, despite DAW channel 2 being routed and panned correctly.

This is actually a fairly major issue for me...
