Re: Fireface400 Sync Errors in Win7

Sound is interrupt for short time and counter in fireface setting display Errors.
I use different software for playback (nuendo, foobar2000, WMP)

Re: Fireface400 Sync Errors in Win7

DSP Latency cheker displayed message:

"Some device drivers on this machine behave bad and will probably cause drop-outs in real-time audio and/or video streams. To isolate the misbehaving driver use Device Manager and disable/re-enable various devices, one at a time. Try network and W-LAN adapters, modems, internal sound devices, USB host controllers, etc."

I try disable in bios integrated ethernet adapters, usb controller, serial port and sound device, but it`s not help.

I have same problem (interrupt sound) on notebook HP Pavilion dv6 1229er (Win7).
My be problem in RME driver under Win7, because in WinXP it work good?

Re: Fireface400 Sync Errors in Win7

No, you've got a problem with another driver causing high DPCs and thus interrupting the FF driver from doing its work.

Re: Fireface400 Sync Errors in Win7

You must look about graphic card drivers... What is the kind of the chipset of your video card?

Download this: http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

Then post a screenshot here. wink

Re: Fireface400 Sync Errors in Win7

Already done, Timur, see above... cool
Have you deactivated WLAN (Wireless), if available?
For the laptop, also try this: http://www.rme-audio.de/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3437

Re: Fireface400 Sync Errors in Win7

I had a similar problem with win7 like lavochka1. The main reason why I sill use good old XP. So on my machine with win XP latency checker avg. latency is about 17-25 us with 250 us peak (in approx. one hour, wlan ENABLED, no bluetooth and camera installed). With win7 (generic fw driver, 32bit) those walues are multiplied by factor 10 (wlan DISABLED, no bluetooth and camera). Result: Sync errors with audible interrupts on every 1 or 2 minutes making things unusable. Behaviour just like lavochka1 described.

With XP things run perfect. I allready tried to disable some services, but in general that showed no significant improvement. Any ideas what should be done?

Re: Fireface400 Sync Errors in Win7

I was curious about the actual numbers, the tool already states problems at 1 ms. tongue

1. Replace the graphic-card driver with the Microsoft "Standard VGA driver" to see if it has any effect.

2. Disable any Wlan, LAN, USB-Hub, USB-cardreader, ACPI compliant battery method via Device-Manager.

3. Disable any other multimedia/audio device via Device-Manager (especially if the one that ATI graphic-driver setup might have installed).

If this solves your problem turn the devices back on one by one to find out which is the culprit.

Re: Fireface400 Sync Errors in Win7

I'd add CD/DVD-RW's to that list of potential culprits as well - but it has generally been WiFi cards everytime in my experience...

Re: Fireface400 Sync Errors in Win7

More things to try:

Update the BIOS of your mainboard. Set AHCI in BIOS to Standard IDE. Set Windows power-mode to "High Performance"!

Replace the Firewire driver with the "Legacy" one via Device-Manager or try this hotfix from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3 … 0&y=14

Try using a PCI(e) Firewire card instead of the onboard one. Make sure no special LAN Manager software is running/installed (NVidia chipset drivers use to offer these).

If you feel profient enough you can try to trace down the real culprit via XPERF: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/140263- … interrupt/

If all doesn't help you might need to ask a real professional IT expert or just get another mainboard/computer for audio production.

Re: Fireface400 Sync Errors in Win7

I update bios, install all updates from Microsoft (Pre SP1), try use external PCI firewire card it`s not help.
I have this problem on 2 computers with win7
Fireface400 and Win7 incompatible :-(

Yes try, not help.
I sell out my Fireface400 :-(
Exist any problems with Fireface UC under Win7 ?

Re: Fireface400 Sync Errors in Win7

For last question I don need answer. I buy Fireface UC and have same trouble in win7 like with Fireface400 (on my notebook HP Pavilion dv6 1229er and desktop computer based on gigabit GA-EP45-DS4P). In windows XP work normal.
I am very disappointed in RME :-(

Re: Fireface400 Sync Errors in Win7

Shows that your computer/other drivers are not Windows 7 ready. You should be disappointed with your computer.

Re: Fireface400 Sync Errors in Win7

With my two computers

Re: Fireface400 Sync Errors in Win7

Possible, yes. Most computers ain't correctly setup for professional audio. And even less see a professional doing the setup.

As long as the DPC Latency Checker says that your computer is not fit for audio you have a problem with *another* driver.

You can try the steps described in the following link to find out which driver is the culprit: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/140263- … interrupt/

And you should measure the DPCs with both methods (the linked one and the one with the DPC Latency Checker) with the audio interface being *disconnected*.
