Topic: Removing FireFaceUC driver from Snow Leopard OS X

I have looked at the list at this topic under tips and tricks
and... the list was;
/Applications/Fireface Mixer
/Applications/Fireface Settings
/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers/Fireface MIDI.plugin
/System/Library/Extensions/FirefaceAudioDriver.kext
/Users/username/Library/Preferences/Fireface folder
/Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.rme.FirefaceMixer.plist
/Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.rme.FirefaceSettings.plist

When using the new Snow Leopard driver also delete:
/Library/LaunchAgents/de.rme-audio.firefaceAgent.plist

Some of the files did not exist in my system is that OK?

Non-existing file list is as follows:

/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers/Fireface MIDI.plugin

/Users/username/Library/Preferences/Fireface folder
/Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.rme.FirefaceMixer.plist
/Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.rme.FirefaceSettings.plist

/Library/LaunchAgents/de.rme-audio.firefaceAgent.plist

Re: Removing FireFaceUC driver from Snow Leopard OS X

The MIDI In Port A on my Fireface UC does not work. I've tried it with a new MIDI breakout cable & had the same problem.

I just uninstalled the old drivers as per the instructions on the website:
http://www.rme-audio.de/forum/viewtopic.php?id=9233

And I didn't have this:
/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers/Fireface MIDI.plugin

Nor did I have it after installing the latest drivers.

Can this be related to the Port A MIDI problems?

Thanks

Re: Removing FireFaceUC driver from Snow Leopard OS X

You dont have a MIDI driver on the UC, it is class compliant. As listed in the manual:

/Applications/Fireface USB Mixer
/Applications/Fireface USB Settings
/System/Library/Extensions/FirefaceUSB.kext
/Users/username/Library/Preferences/Fireface USB folder
/Users/username/Library/Preferences/de.rme-audio.FirefaceUSBMixer.plist
/Users/username/Library/Preferences/de.rme-audio.Fireface_USB_Settings.plist

I also updated the above link for newer driver information.

Re: Removing FireFaceUC driver from Snow Leopard OS X

Thank you for your quick reply & for the updated info on the website.

Any suggestions on how I should proceed with troubleshooting the MIDI in Port on my Fireface?

I've done the usual things: new MIDI cable, different MIDI controllers, reinstall/update drivers, etc.

What about MIDI port 2?

Re: Removing FireFaceUC driver from Snow Leopard OS X

MIDI port 2 in & out work fine.

I removed an M-Audio USB MIDI driver (3.4.0) which my Midisport 4x4 MIDI I/O uses. I am testing the FFUC MIDI port 1 & it is working. :-)

I do require the M-Audio MIDI I/O, so I'll install it later (after testing the FFUC MIDI port 1 for stability) & see if it interferes with the FFUC.

Have you received any reports from FFUC users regarding problems when using the FFUC's MIDI I/O with an M-Audio MIDI I/O?

Not yet, but that may well be the case.
