Topic: FF400 - damaged bus controller

Hi, Everyone!

I've got the common problem - FF400 with a damaged bus controller. As far as I know main reason of this problem is hot plugging of the device. But I didn't do it. Once I just turned it on and all the LEDs on a front panel were on. The device couldn't be recognized by computer. According to the service center I hot plugged it, but it’s not true.
- Any Ideas what could cause the problem?
- What should I do to avoid such problems in future?

Thanks,

Nick

While I would not refer to this as a "common problem", your FF may require repair. Other than to avoid hotplugging, there is no general advice in this case...

Thanks, Daniel, I meant that hotplugging is a main reason of damaging firewire controllers, my device is being repared now.
I never hotpluggetd it however it suddenly broke down.
Maybe I should be espicially careful when powering FF and computer on/off? I've checked the topics on this forum and it seems that I do everything correct.

They say that they are replacing firewire controller.
