Topic: Babyface + USB powered DisplayLink monitor
Hello,
I have recently bought the babyface, mostly for live use running VST plugins.
Right now I put both the laptop and the babyface on a music stand but it feels somewhat dangerous at times, so I'm considering getting a USB powered DisplayLink monitor to put on a stand, and put the laptop and the babyface on the floor in a safe housing.
Would this hinder the performance of the Babyface? in regards to both power supplying and performance.
Here is a link to the particular monitor I am talking about

I am also considering a purchase of the newer Macbook Pro 13" i7 2.7 GHz, which has only two USB ports. (so my question about using a USB monitor with babyface is supposing that I'm using the newer i7 Macbook pro)
Using Logic Mainstage, would I be able to run at 14 sample? I use about 4 to 8 plug-ins at a time, mostly one channel but sometimes two channels. (with or without the USB monitor)
The type of plug-ins I use are mostly guitar effects, convolution reverb, and 8 band parametric EQ. (EQ plugins used 4 instances at the most)
I know you woundn't have a definete answer without testing, but I wanted to know your opinion.
Thank you for your time
