Re: fireface 400 sounds distorted suddenly after 7 months use

Your hard drive may have slipped out of DMA mode.  Do what it says here:

If that doesn't help, you may have caught something.  Restart in Safe Mode With Networking (keep dabbing the F8 key during startup until the menu appears).  Download anr run ESET Online Scanner.

(Do this now and again anyway, for any Windows computer that uses the Internet.  A negative result is good!  If there's anything bad, it will cure it)

It was really helpful

Well, don't leave us in suspense!  Did one of those work?  Which?

Re: fireface 400 sounds distorted suddenly after 7 months use

there was some problem with the hard drives.I think it slipped out of DMA mode. After trying whats said in your first option,it did not solved the problem..instead windows did not boot.I installed windows xp again and now its working nicely. It was a disc problem which affected my OS I suppose.I am not good at these internal DMA ,s and stuff.
Thanks to you so that I realised at least my RME is safe...
cheers

Regarding ur second option I scanned and nothing affected the computer

Re: fireface 400 sounds distorted suddenly after 7 months use

It's possible you have a failing hard drive.  One problem - well OK.  If it plays up again, replace it.
