Topic: Our New Madi card HDSPe

We  wanted it installed in our W7 64,
but it was freezing in the last moment windows was about to open,
and then we installed it in our W7 32 instead then .
How to fix this below is the  first question.
The mixer 64 channels is froozen in preset 1.
We diminished it too much in order to find out the rooting configuration.
Its just the text : File, Edit, View, Options, Fader Groups and the sign  ? on top.
We tried to delete eveything we found in reg edit ,
but its still loading the same diminished version,
Edit, View, Options, Fader Groups and the sign   ?
after we had reinstalled the  drivers,
We of course  also want to know, why its not installing in W7 64

We where very tired trying to find out how to get audio signals through to our 4 ADAT interfaces.
ADAT interfaces connected to our new RME ADI 648 MADI.
We started to put the RME HDSPe MADI card on Internal in order to use it as Master Wordclock.
When the HDSPe card finally started to work ,we connected all ADAT interfaces and putted  them in sync.
Thats the state of now, the sync is working through the RME ADI 648 MADI to all ADAT.
Then we made the big mistake, after trying to to route a Wave signal from WM-Player,
that was on Channel 7 and 8 to Channel 1 and  2 .
In order to be abel to route them from Channel  number 1 and have some order when routing them out,
from the HDSPe MADI to RME ADI 648 first.
We was very tired and started to experiment with diminishing the Mixerwindow
instead of trying to find out in the Manuals.
I am sorry thats the way we have done in the past sometimes. ( experiments sometimes work )
The hdspmix then became froozen in that position.
Just a thin part of the mixer is left .

The MADI card comes with a manual, which explains all this and much more in detail.

Unclear. What exactly is going to open? Did you install the driver as per the W7 notes? Did that work? What is shown in the Device Manager?

Re: Our New Madi card HDSPe

We where very confused when we tried that and we know from your answere now that its compatible with W7 64 .

The very little we have read in the manual about installation was very much about XP
so after talking to Daniel Fuchs in Telefone we could instal it right so we might have missed something here, in uninstallation in the 64 computer.
We can do that later we need to get help with what we missed in the routing operation ,
that we tried to do that was stopped by this mixersituation.
Just give me an idea where in Windows to make the MADI 1 to 6 appearing under sounds in Control Panel ( Manage devices) ,
because I assume thats why the mediaplayer only can play back from channel  7 and 8  in the Madi-Mixer.
We want route from channel 1 and 2, otherwise we cant find pease here.
Maybe there is more to configurate, but our converter is sending the sync signal through
so it will probarbly send the audio also then.
Its confusing this starting from 7-8 , but the Audio is coming in there though.

Thanks but the Madi 7-8 is the lowest level that appears there under playback.
I am reading the RME HDSPe MADI manual  now about Playback page 19. ???
Schould I maybe skip Control Panel or disabel something there .???
We always disabel all sounds on our computers for Studio.
I use Wavelab 7 now here to try signals.
Appearing is channel 7 to 64 under Hammerfall MADI in the Control Panel playbac
My question is how to enabel 1 to 6 also.
Maybe that is enabeled from the Mixer hdspmix
Schould I use the direct monitoring option when using Native instruments Kore 2 here.
Sorry I was wrong here the Mixer is now playing back under 1-2 loadspeaker Hammerfall ,
and the the question will be how to make it Madi from 1-2 and where is 3,4,5 and 6

Reboot the computer, then see if these devices are still missing in the list. This has nothing to dfo with the mixer. If WDM does not work try to use ASIO (for example in WaveLab), there it will work.

I rebote again to see then

Wavelab 7 is going to Hammerfall Loadspeaker on 1-2 There is no MADI 1-2

I have now disabeled all Playback and Recording Devices in the Control Panel,
and I need to know ,which Playback and Recording  devices I need .
I got only two missing channels  now ,thats 1 and 2.
I am now listening to channel 3-4 out through Coaxial Madi
It seems that processor-power is involved here maybe.
Or is the Computer freezing caused from wrongdoings maybe
I was activating all the auxdevices also and maybe that was wrong.
If its so we need to know because our W7 64 is going to be at least 12GB RAM soon now.
Thats why we wanted to instal there in the first place.
I need to know , we are a music company.
When I choosed  : Show disabeled devices in  the Control panel
A lot of Hammerfall Internal AUX Jack appeared and maybe thats the right ones to use.
The ones called Hammerfall DSP MADI with a small box with missing chanels 1 and 2,
is maybe wrong playback devices for  sending Coaxial or optical signals out to ADI 648.
I got sound there though now.
Also windows was freezing for the second time now, when I was configuring in the
Control Panel playback setup-window  ???
I had to shut down Windows wrongly.
More than five times.
I got sound now.
I hope Windows is not unstable now

Ok thats maybe so but I did not know that the auxchannels was useless until now.
Maybe everything became unstable when we enabeled all auxdevices.
Why is it called loadspeaker 1 and 2, it seems to be just the same signal as when using 3 and 4

1. We need to know now first if the Coaxial MADI is the same quality as Optical MADI
2. Is  this set up going to have any problem going from Computer 1 ,
to Front of the House through the MADI-CARD out and signals back to Computer 1,
in order to do mixdown to Stereo , in Computer 1.
3.Most boards seems to have optical MADI, but the Coaxial might be a better way to explaine this for you, because they are totally separated as cabels.
4.We think that in this situation its better to go back to ADI 648 MADI rather than to the HDSPe card.
5.We also want to know if both Coaxial and Optical can be used in the same time goin out FROM HDSPe
to Front of the House , and they other way in and out to the converter ADI 648 using both MADI.
Thats important because we cant test that here and that would be another way of planning this.
That way is not the easiest way in our opinion ,for going back to Computer 1 from Front of the House,
but might be an easier way to mix in both digital and live drums together in our MADI Computer,
before mixing them together with the rest of the Band and the Singing.
6. If we can use them in the same time we also want to know,
if you can help with a solution for the optical Madi-Cabels to make them separated,
or abel to do the same thing. ( going out from the Madi card and back direct into ADI 648 )
Thats a little bit assuming that big boards works better with optical maybe.
7. All this is about finding it wrong to go back to the Madi Computer from Front of the House.
Thats because we intend to do Stereo Mix Down in Sonic Core Computer 1,
and then conversion back to ADAT is sort of a short-cut coming from Front of the House.
8. Before we bought this card we compared it with the more cheap SSL- card ( Extreem Madi ),
with two optical in and out , and we bought HDSPe because  we assumed all this was possible to do.

They say its possibel in theire card to go both ways  to f.ex . the Venue  boards and also the other way,
back to f.ex a converter, but we want to know all possibilities.
9. The converter ADI 648 has to work  either  Coaxial or Optical, as far as I can understand,
so then the splitted direction of ours ,is maybe a good or a bad solution ???
Its a question

Bear Of Moon

Re: Our New Madi card HDSPe

1. No difference in terms of quality. For longer distances, optical is better to avoid electrical interference from lights etc.
2. No problems, bit if you wish to connect so many ADAT devices to the 648, I would suggest to use a separate MADI card for FOH purposes.

The remaining questions are not really clear. Please mind that both MADI card and 648 can not use both MADI inputs simultaneously, but both outputs can send (identical) MADI signals simultaneously.

I dont really follow here.
Did you say there is a chapter in the manual for 648 about going MADI to MADI or was that in the card manual.
Which side is that on, or chapter. I cant find it.
You need to tell me and why do we need one more card for FOH purposes.
I might have misunderstood here. I thought that the converter could route signals MADI to MADI .
As a small band, 32 channel is much and I hink  that Native Instruments Kore 2 can easely Route Channels
to the other 32 Channels thats left  .
But maybe you are refering to all the ADAT Channels used in and out parallel.
We of course want to know about one more card , is that in the same computer or tell me.
The live sequenser we intend to use for live Kore 2  maybe cant work in two soundcards at the same time
Maybe thats possible with MADI then or what.

Re: Our New Madi card HDSPe

Hey there,

As far as I understand it this is what you want to do:

Output digital audio from 4 computers via MADI to a FOH console and a monitor console.

I'm not sure what the profire is doing in your diagram though.

To my understanding you just need to send the output of your ADI648 to both your HDSP MADI card and then use the duplicate output to send to the house system. I would send anything live (eg vocals) through the normal house stage box. You should be able to get a record input into your HDSP MADI card via the house stage box.

What consoles are you using for this?

Hope this helps,

Re: Our New Madi card HDSPe

I dont know if you understood my questions here .
The last questions is about why or if we must have two cards.
We have only one card.
Our computer 1 can have either 32 or 48 channels out.
Computer 2 is having a MADI card.
What computer 3 and 4 is doing is part of the thread.
One more MADI card or continue whatever they want to.
What we schould do in your eyes might not be in our contracts.

Re: Our New Madi card HDSPe

Can we have a real answere here.
Going back and forward from  the HDSPe card to the converter,
using MADI to MADI in a FOH setup ,makes no sence to me.
It says in the manual that we cant use both coaxial and optical in.
Simultaneous.
What does it mean ?
The connectors or just the channels that is occupied.
We need to know if it is the connectors then its no way we can go,
both in and out with coaxial using MADI to MADI ,
and also going in and out using optical to  FOH.

Thanks Jeff
That means that our Screenshot is the only way,
to do Stereo mixdown in Computer 1 with Sonic Core.
That was important because our first intention with this was ,
to find a solution for the optical Cabels doing this ring from FOH.
We knew it was possible if in sync.
Please give a solution for the optical Cabels, to be splitted,
from HDSPe out to FOH and from FOH in to ADI 648,
because we want to use the optical Cabels.
Also to avoy mistake with in and out use of BNC coaxial Cabels,
and also mixing up with use of BNC Wordclock Cabels
Maybe thats just existing extension Cabels

The difference will be aprox. 75 centimeter,

I have never seen them before .
They seems to come in splitted or single in and out ,
exept the real long ones maybe need one adapter.
Thanks again I thought the Cables came like in the MADI Cable Drum,
