Topic: latency problem with live on mac.

hi there,
I have a multiface 1, a mac pro 10 5 8. I just bought the hdspe pci card so I can have the multiface on the mac,  it seems to work, as the mac recognise the card. I install the hdspe 277.pkg for the driver

BUT
in ableton live 8. in the preference audio,
in the first box (type de pilote) I can choose between coreaudio or no audio, isn't that strange? shouldn't it be a hdsp or hammerfallsomething to pick up?

then in the two next box (peripherique d'entrée audio et periphérique de sortie audio) i can choose hammerfall dsp multiface (slot2)

I have to put the latency in the soft to 92 samples and it's the limit for live not to crackle the sound

and i get an input latency of 3,35ms and ouput latency of 4,06ms and a general latency of 7,42 ms

I get nearly the same result even better with the internal soundcard of the mac.

I thought I should get a zero latency.

is everything normal?

the driver in sytem/library/extension/ is hdspmadi.kext

thank you:)

Re: latency problem with live on mac.

The onboard sound is just as PCIe as the HDSPe, so minimum latencies shouldn't be far apart. But at least on my Macbook Pros the HDSPe beats the onboard sound in performance (as in can use more FX).

There is no zero latency apart from directly sending inputs to outputs via Totalmix (and even then there is latency because of AD/DA conversion).

Additionally Live by default uses the same buffer size that is set for the audio interface for plugins (Preferences -> CPU).

And "CoreAudio" is correct, there is no other (once there was ASIO on Mac OS, too).

Re: latency problem with live on mac.

well,
everything seems fine then.

thanks for your fast reply:)
