Topic: Protools 9 native and AES32 no sound at 1024 latency.

I'm running Protools 9 with the RME AES32 card hooked to a LYNX Aurora 16. My system is an intel i7 930 with 6 gigs of ram. Windows 7 64 bit. System runs great under Cubase 5.
Protools 9 runs fine at 512 and under latency but will not playback at any buffer larger than 512.  Protools also is not as efficient running a lot of vst plugins as is Cubase or Nuendo. I'm also running the fxexpansion vst to rtas wrapper which they claim has little to no load on the system.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?  Really need a solution to this problem because Protools chokes after setting up plugs for a mix.

I have the exact same problem with hdsp 9652. I've posted a thread in the hdsp(e) section and I'm really hoping they'll answer soon.

Have you found a solution? If so, please share! smile

Since all buffers work fine in other hosts, I would think this is a PT issue. Did you ask there?

I didn't think to do so, because I have only had this problem since switching to RME. On my old M-audio card, switching buffer settings was no problem.

I should perhaps point out that I am running PT exclusively and thus I can't tell wether or not the problem persists in other DAWs. I saw this post and 'joined in' - I have posted 'my own' problem in the HDSP(e) forum, but have yet to receive an answer.

Re: Protools 9 native and AES32 no sound at 1024 latency.

Avid owns m-audio so that explains something. Still I would check pro tools forum too, they are new to asio. And there is very little gain (read none) in running higher then 512 here on cubase. I run at 32 to 128 max depending on what project.

From what I heard (at DAWbench) especially rtas instruments perform worse then their VSTi counterparts (cpu load). Rtas effects are about equal.
