Topic: RME FF 400 suddenly disconnects

Hi, i bought a macbook pro with lion, latest drivers and firmware installed but when i play music the rme 400 suddenly disconnects and the red light of hosts appears for a few seconds, the mixer of the fire face disappear too and after these seconds everything goes normal again, please i really need help.

Nope, it is new, i buy it the last week, lion, etc etc, is a new mbp.

I try to reinstall firmware and it says to me an error, now the firmware isn't the 1.70 and i can't update it, please i need help, puff, fuck ff400.

Can you test the FF400 with another computer?

I reinstalled the drivers but not the latest, the 2.75 and they let me to flash the unit and everything appears to be ok now? It s really weird. I will tell you if this remains, let's keep our fingers crossed... Regards, Gonzalo.

Did you try a different Firewire cable? One that sits absolutely firm in the firewireport of your Mac?

This sits absolutely firm in the firewireport, the cable is new and works perfect, it isn't a cable problem or a computer problem, is from the rme, and I'm starting to think that the unit is wrong...

Now only disconnects one time, a few seconds after i switch on the computer... After this, sometimes disconnects sometimes don't disconnect...

I had the same problem and the fault was the firewire port of mac. What´s your mac? Have u tried with another audio interface?

I think that is a problem of the chipset that apple has put on my mbp, i will call tomorrow to know i can change it for another mbp with the texas instruments... Anyone can confirm me that is problem of my mbp please? I need to be sure before call them.

edit: buying this cable and connecting my 400 to 800 firewire cable to him, the rme 400 will found correctly? anyone can confirm this to me please?

If i put in the interface the power supply the interface switch on but the host light didn't disappear... Please i need help fast...

I was reading and people says that the 8 firewire revision give the same problems that the 6 revision, if i buy a repeater cable i will fix these problems?

I doubt that you have a chipset problem if you are really using revision 8.

Try another cable, it doesn't matter if your cable is new or not. Then there always is the possibility of a broken Firewire port on the Mac or Fireface. Do you have some Firewire harddrive you could put in between? Does it matter which of the two FW ports on the FF you are using?

If i connect the interface for one of the ports the red light of host didn't disappear, only one of the two works for me...

I try another cables and same problem, i have a lacie firewire disk and works perfect, i connect the fire face to it and the red host light didn't switch off. I think is the ff 400...
