Topic: RMS voltage output of AO4S-192 AIO

Hi there,

I am sending a 0dBFS sine signal (200Hz), created via MATLAB, to the output of the HDSP 9632 card. The output level setting is -10dBV, which means that 0dBFS produces +2dBV (rms).

Now, if I am not wrong, I would expect to measure an rms voltage (using a digital multimeter) of 10^(2/20) = 1.26V between the hot and cold pins (tip/ring of the TRS plug).

Instead, I measure roughly double that, i.e. 2.49V. Would that mean that contrary to what I assumed above, I am wrong and +2dBV refers to half of the rms measured between the balanced connection wires?

Thanks for the assistance,
Chris

You overlooked the balanced setting in the Settings dialog.

Hmmm, fair enough... Thanks MC. All working as expected now smile
