Topic: How to control Monitor levels with ARC

Hi, I just purchased a ucx along with the ARC

If I am doing this correctly, I've installed the driver and totalmix on my window 7. I've inserted my monitors through balanced line out 1 and 2. Here is my totalmix when playing audio.

Now with the ARC, the rotary button controls the main output, which for me only controls the headphone volume and not my monitors. There are two faders AN 1/2 hardware output and An 1/2 software output. Should I set the hardware output at 0 and adjust the software playback fader?

Either fader that you recommend, I would like to use my ARC's rotary button to control my monitors two monitors. However, I am not sure how to do it even after reading the manual. Please excuse my lack of tech savviness.

Re: How to control Monitor levels with ARC

Click the Assign button on the bottom right of TMFX, and set Main to AN 1/2.

Re: How to control Monitor levels with ARC

Wow! Thank you very much! Is there anyway to control the headphone and the monitor using only the ARC? For example I do not want to click assign every time I want to switch from headphone to monitors, vice versa.

And also in the distant future, I would like to have a 5.1 setup and how would I adjust the fader for the whole group? Again, sorry for asking this as I have a hard time finding my answer in my manual.

Just assign your Phones 1 fader in the Control Room section as PH 7/8. Then you can click the Phones 1 button on the ARC when you want to control the Phones output level. Click the button again to go back to Mains control.

You can do this with fader groups. Click "Edit" under the Groups menu, select the Fader 1 group, then click each fader you want to join (make sure Main is in the group). When you're finished, click the "Edit" button again.

Re: How to control Monitor levels with ARC

Hello there, I'm reviving this post because I have a new computer and trying to set it up again. when I assign Phone 1 as PH 7/8 and I use AN 1/2 as my main, I can't control the phone 1 volume for the rotary button. All I see is the green cue lights on the Phone 1 section https://ibb.co/Y8PJY1W and the rotary is still controlling the main fader which is currently set as AN 1/2

Re: How to control Monitor levels with ARC

In the ARC key command settings is encoder assigned to volumen main ?
This is the default setting, you may have to assign it to Phones 1

Thank you for the quick reply! I did that, but when I unclick Phones 1 from my arc, the encoder is still controlling my phone 1 and not controlling the An 1/2. Long time ago, when I unclick it, it should just control the speaker/ monitors from AN 1/2

Yes, I have done that shown here https://ibb.co/HTb1dJY. Is it wrong? because it's not working.

Re: How to control Monitor levels with ARC

In my Totalmix it looks a bit different, the main gets a blue bar and the selected item has a mark.
But I think you did right.

Sorry, did I delete your previous post? You said it is not from ASSIGN, but isn't the only button that is called assign at the bottom right beside the Main fader? the picture is just me clicking that assign button. Is it somewhere else?

EDIT: ah I see thank you. I'm kind of stumped.

Re: How to control Monitor levels with ARC

You can store two different TM FX snapshots, e.g.:
- one with AN1/2 OUT assigned as Main Out and
- another one with the phones output as Main Out

If you want to control the volume of multiple output channels at once, you can use a fader group.
Set main out and phones to a suitable level that feels like "the same" to you.
Then create a fader group and store this, e.g. as a separate snapshot.

It is all described in the manual, after knowing that this topic is related to "Assign", "Main Out", "Fader group" you can easily search for these words in the manual. With Acrobat Reader, you have a fine PDF viewer with a good working search function.

Thank you very much. It kind of solves my issue half way. The problem with snapshots is that volume is always same. What if I want to control the headphone volume and raise the volume a bit and switch the snapshot 2 with speakers adjust to a certain level and then go back to headphone? It just goes back to the snapshot volume and not the volume I had before.

Is it that hard to just to use the ARC, click one button adjust volume headphone from -20 to -40 and then switch to speaker adjust -30 to -50 and then when I click the headphone again, my volume should be where I left off at -40 (if snapshot, it would go back to -20).

Re: How to control Monitor levels with ARC

See TM FX Preferences, Snapshots - Do not load "---", "Main Volume", "Main/Phones Volumes", "Control Room Settings".

Did I do something wrong saving my snapshots?
