Topic: Reference level with Fireface UFX+ and ADI-8 QS

I looked through the manual for the UFX+ and found that when its output reference level is set to +4 dBu, the 0 dBFS is actually +13 dBu.

I would like to ask if I should select the level after that according to +4 dBu or +13 dBu in this case in subsequent device connections?

My usage scenario is quite strange, it is the output signal from the UFX+ that goes to the monitor controller, and then the Aux Out signal from the monitor controller summed up (monitor controller has some other signal input) goes to the ADI-8 QS, so I need to clarify whether the Input level of the ADI-8 QS is selected at +4.2 dbu or +13 dbu.

If the input signal is
— too hot you need more headroom, then select Hi Gain, you will see that the input signal goes down
— too low, then you need more sensitivity on the inputs, then try either +4 (typical studio level) or -10 (consumer level)

But my problem is the input signal selection of the ADI-8 QS sad, which only has the following input levels available:

In fact, the reason why I would ask such a question is because the output signal of the ADI-8 QS I will use to measure the signal Loudness, if I can not choose the exact input level, then the Loudness result is wrong sad

you can add digital gain up to +6 dB in 0.5dB steps on inputs and outputs, see manual ch 9.3 and 9.4 (input and output trim).

As you can see from that thread you need +3 dB more digital gain to come from +4dB studio level to -10 dBV consumer level.

ADI-8 QS has a reflevel of +4.2dB , so you need tad a bit more than +3dB digital gain pr try the next higher setting and look what works best for you.

I seem to understand that, assuming that the ADI-8 QS receives a signal with an input level of +6dbu, then I can select the input level of the ADI-8 as +4.2dbu and add 2dbu + 3dbu (as Headroom) gain to it, I don't know if I understand correctly.
Because the reference level (e.g. +6dbu in the example above) only represents the level when the signal is clipping, and usually a little Headroom needs to be reserved for it.
