For a few extreme measurements I use my 12 year old Exide Gel G80 from my motorhome.
The successor product is the Exide Equipment Gel ES900:
900 Cycles at 50% DOD
Internal gas recombination, Safe and clean, Absolutely maintenance free, ...

Re: Any news on RME DPS-2

Thank you for releasing the DPS-2 manual, Mr.Carstens!
I have a question.
Are you going to release DPS-2 in Japan?

There seems no mention about Japanese PSE Certification in the manual.
Assuming that DPS-2 is released in Japan, is it going to be a Japanese-specific 100V AC version?

thanks.

Re: Any news on RME DPS-2

You just gave two reasons why there is currently no plan to release it in Japan. And this is a quite common scheme, you will find that most of this kind of stuff is available everywhere but not in Japan. Missing ground in home mains net (safety issue), expensive (redundant) testing, and having to produce a unit only for the Japanese market (using an extra made transformer that is not used anywhwere else in the world) make it impossible. Well, at least for now. If the demand gets overwhelming the situation might change...

So sad to hear…
thank you so much for the answer.

Re: Any news on RME DPS-2

Maybe you might use transformer to get 220V from 100V and buy european version....

Re: Any news on RME DPS-2

Will the reviews in the Hi-Fi press probably be after Munich Hi End conference?

Re: Any news on RME DPS-2

Hello friends,

please excuse my bad english, im an RME Fan and Ex-Musician from germany.

I testet the DPS-2 Prototype 2 years ago -

and was full of enthusiasmn-

since a good week i have the serial product DPS-2 in my house  - its overwhelming!

I wrote many things about the prototype with pictures in a german Hifi Forum-
and more things if you scroll down about the end product.

For me is absolutely clear- in need it in my hifi chains!

For those who are interested - its in german language, perhaps translation machines will help you:

Congrats to Matthias Carstens - its clearly outperforming my other solutions, like from Keces.

Cheers and nice sunday to all RME users and fans on planet earth smile

I just bought the DSP-2 to use with the ADI-2  2/4.   Anyone else here using the PS?  I have noise/hum issues, and I'm hoping this helps.  Also hoping it might improve the sound quality of my DAC  ;-)

Anyone else here using the power supply?  I searched but I don't see any reviews or anything on YouTube etc..  Thanks.

Re: Any news on RME DPS-2

Noise and hum usually results from ground loops*, often introduced from an USB connection.
DPS-2 alone might not solve the basic problem.
Adding an Intona or Topping USB isolator breaks the ground loop.

* A ground loop is a closed loop, a closed ring of ground connections.

This means, every device involved has two, instead of only one, ground connection to each other device involved.

E.g. a typical chain:
1. A PC, connected to mains ground and USB ground ->
2. ADI-2/4 Pro SE connected to USB ground and audio line ground ->
3. A power amp connected to this same audio line ground and the same mains ground as the PC, which closes the loop.

This loop covers a certain area in the room and acts as a pick-up coil.
Every noisy, stray magnetic field, like from a mains transformer and noisy stuff from inside the PC, induces a round going noise current into all ground lines involved.

Single ended audio interconnects refer to ground as part of the audio path.
A noise current in the ground lines becomes audible, as the current across the resistance of the cables causes different noise voltage potentials in the devices.

From this insight two possible solutions result:
1. Break the loop at any position that is suited for, without introducing safety issues, e.g. with an USB isolator.
2. Or, use balanced audio interconnects throughout, they are immune as they don’t refer to the noise polluted ground lines.
